Do You Do a Daily Authenticity Check In?

Do you take time to check in with yourself on a daily basis to ensure you are living an authentic life? This is an important step we often overlook. Think of them as soul diagnostic questions to ensure you are living authentically every single day.

What does the catchword “Authentic” even mean? Is it some “woo woo” stuff you don’t need to worry about? NO! Authentic means genuine, being exactly who you are, as you are, and fully trusting in yourself and how you move through every day and feeling good about it. It implies being fully trustworthy in yourself, no self-deception to please others.

What does that look like? Let’s say your family wants to go for dinner, they all want to go to a place with spicy food, but you can’t eat spicy food. In order to keep the peace and make it easy you go, eat something a little spicy and only suffer a little. You still chose suffering. That is one small example that we often do out of hundreds I could have named. If you chose another place to eat, there may have been some grumbling but you would still have all had supper together and enjoyed each other’s company with no suffering involved.

Did you do anything yesterday that was not authentic? If you said yes, why? What was your motivation for that? Take some time to think about that. What could you have done differently to be in alignment with your true values? Don’t beat yourself up, just reflect. If you said no, that’s great. In each moment and each day we are given the opportunity to be the true expression of our values, beliefs, and how we choose to live.

We are humans living and interacting with other humans (well usually but not always). It is important to really show up in a way that allows you to be the true living expression of what you value in your life. I learned this one after 57 years of experience being human. It is all part of self-care and not selling yourself short to please others. We all slip into that to keep a spouse, a family member, or a coworker happy, but are you aware of when it is detrimental to you? I do this less and less every day, week, and month as I grow older, and yes….I will say wiser. Maybe not wiser in the ways of “the world” but wiser in the ways of “my world” and how I want it to look. What you choose to create, how you teach people to treat you, and the beliefs, values, and attitudes you chose to live by are the cornerstones of your life.

What do you choose for yourself today? How do you want the world to look for you? What are you doing for your self-care physically, mentally, and emotionally? Do you need some support with that?

I encourage you to choose you! Your authentic self and take great care of yourself. If this resonates with you, I would love to hear from you. You can book a free chat with me. I love chatting with inspired folks. You can book here: kathleen@katheenbulger.com
